Intelligent Energy announces funding awards of over £40,000 to local organisations via its Charitable Trust.

  • Over £40,000 has recently been awarded to three charities within the area.
  • Each year the Intelligent Energy Charitable Trust donates £100,000 to local causes, with applications for the remaining 2021 awards now open.

Loughborough – 7th July 2021 – The Intelligent Energy Charitable Trust has recently awarded over £40,000 to three Charnwood based charities and organisations who applied for financial support. Funding ranging from £4,800 to £24,000 has been successfully awarded to The Exaireo Trust, Rainbows and Barkby United Cricket Club. Committee members are now urging other local groups not to miss out on the remaining share of £60,000 which will be awarded later this year.

The Intelligent Energy Charitable Trust was founded in January 2019 and to date £240,000 has been granted to local groups. Each year the Trust allocates £100,000 of funds to be shared amongst Loughborough and Charnwood organisations. Two meetings of the committee are held each year to discuss applications and award funds. The final meeting of 2021 will be in September.

The Exaireo Trust is based in Loughboroughandprovides supported housing for adults who would otherwise be homeless. The charity has been awarded £24,012 to fund the provision of an addiction support worker to residents and the wider community.

Catherine Delom of the Exaireo Trust tells us about the work they undertake: “We run several projects to work with vulnerable adults including an allotment, the Exaireo ReUse project to provide work experience, one2one support and an addiction support programme which this particular donation will be used for. The addiction support worker will carry out one-2-one meetings and will facilitate attendance at support groups, as well as helping individuals to access residential rehabilitation support.

“We are very grateful for the support of Intelligent Energy in enabling us to provide this vital work to our Loughborough community.”

Rainbows (Cope Children’s Trust) in Loughboroughhas been awarded £15,000 to provide a siblings support worker for children and young adults. The charity continues to provide vital care and support to families in the region impacted by life-limiting conditions.

Barkby United Cricket Cluboffers cricket for over 40 adults across five senior teams and 60 boys and girls across five junior sides, many of whom have disabilities. The club is a social ‘hub’ for locals, as well as for those involved. Funds awarded total £4,878 and will put towards making functional improvements to the club house.

David Woolhouse, CEO at Intelligent Energy, commented: “Our Trust enables us to support our local community and increase the awareness of well-deserving charities and organisations. I would urge local groups to look at the application details on our website and get their submissions in before the August closing date.”

In September, the Trust’s committee is due to meet for the final time this year to allocate the remaining £60,000 for 2021. Applications will close online on the 27th of August, and local charities and organisations are invited to submit their applications for consideration.
